District Intelligence · a School Manager product

Your data already knows which students are slipping. Now you will, too.

District Intelligence pulls attendance, grades, test scores, behavior, budget and device data into one view of every school, then tells you what it means in plain language. You don't need a data team or a custom report request, and you don't wait for the end of the grading period.

The problem

You don't have a data problem. You have a connection problem.

Every system in your district knows something about every student and every dollar. None of them talk to each other, and none of them tell you what to do next.

Every system knows a piece

Attendance lives in the SIS, grades in the gradebook, discipline in a log, budgets in the finance system and devices in an asset system. The student who shows up in all of them is the one nobody sees.

Reports arrive after the window closes

By the time a quarterly report confirms a student is failing, the grading period is over. Early warning only works if it's early.

Numbers without the "so what"

Dashboards show numbers. Someone still has to work out what they mean, whether they're right, and what to do about them, usually the night before the board meeting.

What you get

One view of every school. Findings included.

District Intelligence measures every school the same way, flags the students who need attention, and writes up what it finds so you can act on it Monday morning.

Early warning, built in

Every student is checked on attendance, behavior and course performance. Students with two or more flags land on a review list for your MTSS team.

Findings written for you

Ranked, plain-language findings with the numbers behind them. Patterns are stated as patterns, and possible causes are clearly labeled as things to confirm.

One index, every school

The District Excellence Index scores academics, attendance, safety, finance and technology from 0 to 100 for the district and every school, with the change from last year.

School Manager

Devices and dollars meet students

Connect School Manager and your finance system for a ranked, priced refresh plan, a fleet value curve, and budget pacing next to the outcomes they affect.

Every student group

Attendance and course outcomes by student group, with small groups automatically protected from display.

Board-ready in one click

Print any section, or a full report with a cover page and executive brief, as a polished PDF.

Catches bad data first

Flags schools whose numbers look like a recording problem, and days that don't look like normal school days, before anyone acts on them.

Private by design

Hosted privately behind staff sign-in. Student-level detail is shown only to the people who need it.

Straight from the demo

This is what it tells a superintendent on day 32.

These findings were generated automatically from the demo district's data, the same way they would be from yours.

CriticalCorrelation

Chronically absent students are 4.0× as likely to be failing a course

Students attending 98%+ of days average 90% with 4% failing at least one course. Under 80% attendance, the average drops to 75% and 54% are failing. Failure rates rise at every step down in attendance. Attendance and average grade are moderately correlated (r = 0.50). This is an association, not proof that absence causes failure.

WatchTechnology

Students who waited 7+ days for a device repair have 1.6× the share of zero scores

477 students had their own device out for repair 7 days or more this term. 6.8% of their scored work is zero, vs. 4.1% for other students, and 23% are failing a course (vs. 13%). This is an association. Possible cause to confirm: lost access to coursework while the device was out. Option to consider: loaner devices for repairs expected to take more than a few days.

WatchFinance

Replacing the 3,002 devices past refresh would cost about $1.5M

The technology equipment budget has $472K available after spending and open purchase orders, about $1.0M short of a full refresh. The estimate uses standard unit prices (Chromebook $340, iPad (shared cart) $420, Staff laptop $1,150, Classroom display $2,600). Option to consider: phase the refresh, starting with the schools where the most devices are past refresh.

Who it's for

Built for the people who answer for the numbers.

How it works

Three steps. No new data entry.

Connect

We connect to the systems you already use. Your staff keep working the way they do today.

  • Student information system
  • Gradebook
  • State assessment results
  • Discipline records
  • Finance system
  • School Manager device data

Analyze

Records are checked and standardized, every school is measured the same way, and findings are written up automatically.

Act

Leaders get the brief, principals get their school, MTSS teams get their review list, and the board gets a clean PDF, all updated as new data arrives.

Student privacy

Student data stays where it belongs.

District Intelligence is built for the reality of student records: private hosting, staff-only access, and nothing shown that a role doesn't need.

  • Private by default. Your district's dashboard sits behind staff sign-in and is never indexed by search engines.
  • Need-to-know detail. Most views show totals and rates. Student-level lists appear only where you turn them on.
  • Small groups protected. Student groups too small to report safely are automatically hidden.
  • Built around FERPA. Designed with district data agreements and student-record requirements in mind.
Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Straight answers about what District Intelligence does, the data it uses and how student information is protected.

What is District Intelligence?

District Intelligence is a K-12 analytics product from School Manager. It combines attendance, grades, behavior, budget and device data into one view of every school, flags the students who need attention, and writes plain-language findings for district and school leaders.

What data does District Intelligence use?

It uses data your district already has: attendance and enrollment from your student information system, gradebook scores, discipline records, general-fund budget and spending from your finance system, and device and repair records from School Manager.

How does it identify students who need support?

Every student is checked on three early-warning indicators: attendance below 90%, a course grade below 60%, and any suspension or discipline action. Students with two or more flags appear on a review list for MTSS teams, and the district can adjust the thresholds.

Can it track budget pacing and cost per student?

Yes. It compares spending by function with the same date last year, projects year-end variance, tracks cost per student across years, and estimates device refresh costs against the remaining technology budget.

What is the District Excellence Index?

The District Excellence Index is a single 0–100 score for the district and each school. It averages five areas (academics, attendance, safety and climate, finance, and technology), each scored against floors and targets the district sets, and shows the change from the same period last year.

Does it include state test results?

Yes. State assessment proficiency is shown by school level, grade and school, for ELA and Math, alongside attendance and course grades and compared with the prior year.

Does it track CTE certifications?

Yes. Industry certifications are shown by school year, program, certification and school, with pass rates and this year's results to date.

Can it plan a device refresh?

Yes. With School Manager connected, schools are ranked by refresh need, each school's refresh is priced, and the list is phased against the technology equipment budget. A depreciation curve shows how fleet book value declines if nothing is replaced.

How is student privacy protected?

Each district's dashboard is hosted privately behind staff sign-in. Most views show totals and rates; student-level lists appear only where the district turns them on, and student groups too small to report safely are hidden automatically.

Does District Intelligence work with School Manager?

Yes. District Intelligence is a School Manager product. With School Manager connected, device age, warranty and repair data appear next to attendance, coursework and budget.

Can findings be shared with the school board?

Yes. Any section, or a full report with a cover page and executive brief, can be printed or saved as a PDF from the dashboard.

Is the live demo real district data?

No. The demo uses Cedar Ridge County Schools, a fictional district generated to show how District Intelligence works. It contains no real students, staff or schools.
